Information

At The Florida Youth Foundation, we're dedicated to empowering youth through community projects. Explore the transformative impact of these initiatives and how you can get involved.

Empowering Youth, Stronger Futures

We envision communities where young people are leaders, tackling real issues and driving positive change. We hope to see increased leadership among young people, with more youth stepping into roles in school, local government, and community organizations; higher graduation rates and college enrollment, driven by mentorship and goal-setting; and youth-led initiatives that tackle real issues—like mental health awareness, environmental sustainability, or neighborhood safety.

Revitalized Communities

Our youth projects aim to create beautification projects: cleaner parks, murals, and community gardens that foster pride and ownership; improved public spaces through youth-led design and maintenance efforts; and greater civic engagement, with young people participating in town halls, volunteering, and voting when eligible.

Stronger Intergenerational Bonds

We strive for mentorship relationships that bridge generational gaps and build mutual respect; family involvement in youth activities, creating more supportive home environments; and community-wide events that bring together residents of all ages to celebrate youth achievements.

Workforce Readiness & Economic Growth

We are committed to job-ready youth with skills in communication, technology, and entrepreneurship; local businesses partnering with youth programs for internships and apprenticeships; and reduced unemployment and crime rates as young people find purpose and opportunity.

A Culture of Hope & Possibility

We foster a shift in narrative: from “at-risk” to “rising leaders”; youth voices amplified in decision-making spaces; and a legacy of service and innovation, where young people see themselves as changemakers.

Real-World Impact: Stories of Change

Discover how young people are making a difference through our community projects.

Dominican Republic: Tackling Flooding with Civic Action
In a neighborhood plagued by flooding due to clogged sewage drains, a group of young leaders from Children International took matters into their own hands. Led by Diana, a sponsored youth, they partnered with the mayor’s office and local agencies to clean and repair the drainage system. Their efforts reduced flooding from 80% of the area to just 20%. It wasn’t just a cleanup—it was a lesson in advocacy, teamwork, and civic responsibility.

Youth for Sustainability: Fighting Plastic Waste
A grassroots group of teenagers launched the Youth for Sustainability initiative to combat plastic pollution in their community. Through clean-up events, recycling drives, and educational workshops, they achieved a 30% reduction in plastic waste in just one year. Their collaboration with local schools and businesses didn’t just change habits—it built a culture of environmental stewardship that inspired adults to join in.
